The Israeli military has eliminated the head of the Palestinian group Hamas's Security Directorate. He was hiding in a command center located in a former school building.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The terrorist Tarwat Muhammad Ahmed Albek was operating in the command and control center, which was housed in the building that previously served as the "Musa ibn Nusayr" school in Durai Taffa.
The IDF noted that the "Hamas Security Directorate" prepares intelligence assessments that aid in decision-making.
This agency is also responsible for the security of high-ranking members of the group, providing them with hiding places to ensure the continuation of their military activities.
"Albek was a central figure in security mechanisms and played a significant role in the decision-making process," the statement said.
Before the strike, the Israeli military took numerous measures to minimize the risk of harming civilians. In particular, high-precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence were used for the attack.
On Monday, December 23, the Israeli Ministry of Defense officially acknowledged for the first time its involvement in the elimination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, which occurred on July 31 in Tehran.
On December 12, Israeli forces killed Hamas commanders who were involved in the incursion from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
