The U.S. Congress is demanding an intelligence report on the implications of halting support for Ukraine.

Конгресс США требует от разведывательных служб отчета о последствиях прекращения помощи Украине.

American lawmakers are seeking to assess the implications for Ukraine of ending U.S. support. To this end, Congress is demanding intelligence leaders provide analytical reports within a 90-day timeframe. This is reported by The Hill, as conveyed by UNN.

Details

Lawmakers have tasked the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency with delivering a report evaluating Ukraine's progress in the war initiated by Russia, taking into account U.S. assistance and the consequences for America's adversaries.

The document has been titled "Assessment of the Likely Course of the War in Ukraine."

According to The Hill, the report's details should include the impact of the Ukrainian military's ability to defend against Russian aggression, should the U.S. continue or halt its defense and economic support, and whether the U.S. maintains or rescinds permission to use the provided long-range missiles for strikes deep into Russian territory.

The U.S. Congress also wishes for intelligence leaders to evaluate the impact of a potential defeat for Ukraine in the war on U.S. national security interests, including the likelihood of further aggression from Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

Lawmakers are calling for the report to be submitted within 90 days of the signing of the National Defense Authorization Act.

Reminder

The Biden administration has announced a new package of security assistance for Ukraine amounting to $988 million through USAI. The package includes ammunition for HIMARS, drones, and components for repairing equipment.
