The U.S. demands Ukraine grant access to oil, gas, ports, and other infrastructure in a mineral agreement, according to The Telegraph.

The Telegraph has obtained a draft agreement between the United States and Ukraine regarding a joint investment fund. The document outlines that the U.S. will oversee 50% of the revenues generated from Ukraine's resource extraction and infrastructure.
Согласно The Telegraph, США в соглашении о полезных ископаемых требуют от Украины доступ к нефти, газу, портам и другой инфраструктуре.

The agreement proposed by the United States for access to Ukraine's natural resources entails Washington's control over mineral and oil and gas resources, ports, and other infrastructure. This is reported by UNN citing the publication The Telegraph.

Details

The British publication claims it has obtained a draft of the agreement proposed by the U.S. presidential administration.

The document indicates that Donald Trump's demands extend far beyond U.S. control over Ukraine's critical minerals, encompassing everything from ports and infrastructure to oil and gas.

The agreement also states that for all future licenses, the U.S. will have the right of first refusal for minerals suitable for export.

The publication notes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky himself suggested the idea of granting the U.S. access to Ukrainian resources.

The Ukrainian President believed, according to the publication, that if American companies began operations in Ukraine, it would prevent Russia from launching another attack, as some mineral deposits are located near the front line.

"Zelensky likely did not expect to encounter conditions typically applied to aggressor states that have been defeated in war. They are worse than the financial sanctions imposed on Germany and Japan after their defeat in 1945. If the project were accepted, Trump's demands would constitute a larger share of Ukrainian GDP than the reparations imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles," concluded The Telegraph.

Reminder

The President of Ukraine refused to sign a document transferring 50% of Ukraine's mineral resources to the U.S. due to a lack of security guarantees. Zelensky emphasized the importance of clear security guarantees in any future agreement.
