The feature-length documentary "2000 Meters to Andriivka" by Myroslav Chernov has received the directing award at the Sundance Film Festival in the World Cinema Documentary program.
"Directing Award: World Cinema Documentary - Myroslav Chernov for the film '2000 Meters to Andriivka'," the announcement reads on the social platform X.
As reported by "Suspilne," the film depicts the task of a Ukrainian platoon during the 2023 counteroffensive - to overcome a well-fortified kilometer of forest in order to liberate the village of Andriivka from Russian troops. The village is located 10 km from Bakhmut and had a population of 77 before the full-scale invasion. At that time, Ukraine managed to drive the Russian forces out of the village, but they later retook it.
This is Myroslav Chernov's second award at Sundance - in 2023, he received the "Audience Award" for "20 Days in Mariupol."
As reported, the documentary "20 Days in Mariupol" won BAFTA and Oscar awards in 2024.
