DAY 1095 RUSSIAN AGGRESSION - ДЕНЬ 1095 РОССИЙСКАЯ АГРЕССИЯ

February 22 is celebrated as European Day for Victims of Crime, International Tongue Twister Day, Founder’s Day of Scouting, and Day of Humility. It is also World Sword Swallowers Day, One Tasking Day, and World Thinking Day.

The Orthodox Church commemorates the discovery of the relics of the holy martyrs in Eugenia.

European Day for Victims of Crime

This day is observed annually in many countries of the European Union. It was established by the international human rights organization Victim Support Europe.

The foundation for this day is based on two international documents: the UN Declaration of Basic Principles of Justice for Victims of Crime (September 1985) and the "Charter of Victims of Crime," published in the UK on February 22, 1990.

The goal of European Day for Victims of Crime is to draw public and governmental attention to the issue of protecting victims, assisting with social rehabilitation, moral and financial compensation, and the necessary psychological and physical support.

International Tongue Twister Day

International Tongue Twister Day is an annual fun and educational celebration held on the last Saturday of February. This holiday is dedicated to lighthearted competitions involving tongue twisters that bring people together in their quest to test their language skills and enjoy playing with words.

Founder’s Day of Scouting

Founder’s Day of Scouting, celebrated every year on February 22, is a day of global celebration and reflection within the scouting movement, honoring the legacy of Robert and Olave Baden-Powell.

Boy Scouts (scouts) are children and youth members of an independent voluntary organization aimed at the physical and spiritual development of young individuals.

World Encephalitis Day

World Encephalitis Day is observed annually on February 22. This day has been commemorated since October 2013.

Encephalitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of the brain. It can be caused by viral, microbial, allergic, toxic, and infectious-allergic factors. Primary and secondary types are also distinguished. In severe cases of the disease, death may occur, making it essential to seek medical assistance.

World Encephalitis Day was created to inform the public about this disease and to promote prevention (such as regular health checks, protective clothing for forest outings, special tick repellents, and timely vaccinations).

Day of Humility

This day is dedicated to the practice and reverence of humility. In a world often dominated by self-promotion and competition, the Day of Humility serves as a reminder of the value of modesty, self-reflection, and the importance of putting others before oneself.

World Sword Swallowers Day

This day is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of February. The holiday pays tribute to the brave and skilled performers who practice the ancient art of sword swallowing.

One Tasking Day

In a world where multitasking has become a badge of honor, One Tasking Day, observed on February 22, serves as a beacon of mindfulness and efficiency. This special day promotes the "lost art" of focusing on one task at a time, thereby increasing productivity and reducing stress levels.

Church Holiday:

During the reign of Tsar Theodosius the Great, there lived in Constantinople, in the eastern part of the city, a worthy man named Eugene, who built a church in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos.

One location in that church became famous for a miracle during the reign of Emperor Arcadius (395-408): sick people who prayed at that spot regained their health. The bishop took notice and came with a procession. He ordered this place to be excavated.

In the excavated grave, the incorrupt relics of many martyrs, who suffered at different times, were found. From their relics, fragrant oil flowed. The relics of the saints were transferred to the church, where they became renowned for many miracles.

Later, a pious man, Nicholas the Calligrapher, announced that among those relics were the bodies of Saint Andronicus, one of the 70 disciples, and his assistant Junia, whose memory is celebrated on May 17.
