Church Holiday:

According to biblical legend, Saint Xenia of Rome lived in the 5th century. She was born into the family of a wealthy Roman senator. At birth, the girl was named Eusebia. She was the only daughter in the family. From a young age, the girl possessed a strong faith and wished to dedicate her life to God. However, her parents had prepared a different future for her: they found a groom and planned a grand wedding.

Eusebia, who did not want this marriage, secretly fled her home with two devoted maidservants. They arrived by ship on the island of Coa, where they stopped on the outskirts of the settlement. It was then that Eusebia changed her name to Xenia, which means "journey."

On the island, they met Father Paul, the abbot of the monastery of Saint Andrew the First-Called in the city of Milas, who became the spiritual guide for Xenia and her two maidservants. From the island of Coa, they traveled to Milas, where Xenia purchased a small house and converted it into a monastery. Over time, other women who wished to lead a monastic life began to join Xenia.

As Xenia's earthly journey was coming to an end, she bid farewell to her sisters and spent a long time alone in the church, praying before the crucifix. During Xenia's repose, a cross appeared over the monastery in a shining wreath, accompanying the funeral procession all the way to the burial site of the righteous nun.

It is believed that many miraculous healings occurred at the tomb of Blessed Xenia.
