DAY 1046 RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

On January 4, we celebrate World Braille Day, World Hypnosis Day, and Newton Day.

In the USA, it's National Spaghetti Day.

The Orthodox Church honors the memory of the assembly of the 70 apostles and Saint Theoctist.

World Braille Day

January 4, 2019, marked the first celebration of World Braille Day, dedicated to the invention of French educator Louis Braille. This day was established by a resolution of the UN General Assembly (A/RES/73/161) in November 2018 to raise awareness about the significance of Braille as a means of communication for the full realization of the human rights of blind and visually impaired individuals.

World Hypnosis Day

World Hypnosis Day is celebrated on January 4. It was first held by professionals in the field in 2006, initiated by Tom Nicoli, a certified hypnotherapist, author, and instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) in the USA. The purpose of establishing this day was to dispel numerous misconceptions and myths surrounding hypnosis and hypnotherapy, while promoting the benefits of their application.

Hypnosis is understood as a temporary state of a person characterized by heightened focus of attention and reduced peripheral awareness, during which an individual is highly susceptible to suggestion. This state can be induced by a hypnotist or through deliberate self-suggestion. The effectiveness of hypnosis depends not only on the specialist's skills but also on the hypnotizability of the patient.

Interestingly, this technique has been known since ancient times. Hypnosis was often used as an alternative to medication for anesthesia during surgical operations.

Newton Day

Scientists, researchers, students, and graduate students in the natural sciences, as well as simply enthusiasts of scientific knowledge and experiments, celebrate Newton Day every January 4, on the birthday of the great Englishman.

Church Holiday:

January 4 - The Assembly of the 70 Apostles, the disciples of Jesus Christ, who made a significant contribution to the spread of Christianity in the world.

In addition to the first twelve apostles, Jesus Christ had other followers. The Gospel of Luke states that after the Transfiguration, Jesus called seventy other disciples. Their names are not all known to us, but many have been preserved in Sacred Tradition, such as the evangelists Mark and Luke.

The seventy apostles are honored for preaching the Gospel in various corners of the world after the Descent of the Spirit. Many were imprisoned for this, while others met martyrdom due to their faith. Throughout the year, the church remembers the apostles individually, but on January 4, during the Assembly of the seventy apostles, they are honored together, symbolizing that each one's deeds are equally important to the Church.
