Church Holiday:
January 6 in the church calendar is the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (Baptism). It is the last holiday of the Christmas and New Year cycle. It commemorates the event when John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ in the River Jordan. At that time, the Son of God was 30 years old. Although Jesus was sinless, this act demonstrated his belonging to the human race. Along with the Baptism, believers also celebrate the Lord's Epiphany. The date coincides, but these are two different celebrations. When Jesus Christ emerged from the water, the Holy Spirit (in the form of a dove) descended from heaven, and a voice proclaimed that Christ is the Son of God.
Name Day: Ivan.
