The Biden administration is contemplating imposing significant new financial sanctions on the Russian Federation to influence the ongoing negotiations regarding Ukraine, according to a Washington Post report from December 24. "Four sources familiar with the matter revealed that President Joe Biden is considering implementing major sanctions targeting the Russian energy sector in the final weeks of his presidency, as the administration aims to deliver a decisive blow in its financial campaign against Vladimir Putin," the report states. This move is also expected to provide the incoming team of President-elect Donald Trump with greater leverage in their negotiations with Putin over halting Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is discussing new major financial sanctions against the Russian Federation to influence the course of negotiations regarding Ukraine, as reported by the Washington Post on December 24.
"Four sources familiar with the situation indicated that President Joe Biden is considering imposing new substantial sanctions on the Russian energy sector in the final weeks of his presidency, as the administration contemplates delivering a decisive blow in its financial war against Vladimir Putin," the report states.
