Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has determined the compensation amount for those affected and the families of the deceased following the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft, which was operating flight J2-8243, near the city of Aktau (Kazakhstan) last Wednesday.
According to the press service of AZAL, the company's supervisory board has decided to provide each victim with a compensation of 20,000 manats ($11,760), while families of each deceased will receive 40,000 manats ($23,520).
Additionally, all passengers will receive an appropriate insurance payout in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation and best international practices.
As reported, on Wednesday, December 25, an Embraer aircraft from AZAL, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau. According to Azerbaijan Airlines, there were 67 people on board, including five crew members. Among them were 42 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 from Russia, 6 from Kazakhstan, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan.
Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported that 38 bodies of the deceased were transported from the crash site to the forensic examination center for identification.
