The Czech Minister of Defense, Jana Černochová, informed allies about the current supplies of ammunition for the Ukrainian military during the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), emphasizing the readiness to continue the “Czech initiative,” reported the Czech Ministry of Defense press service.
“Ukraine needs our help more than ever. The Czech Republic continues to pay special attention to the supply of large-caliber ammunition,” the defense minister stated after the meeting.
She noted that last year, the Czech Republic delivered approximately 1.5 million units of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine, a third of which was of the 155 mm caliber. According to the minister, the Czech Republic aims to continue these supplies this year.
“Despite the fact that the supplies present a huge logistical challenge, they are functioning well. We all recognize the importance of military support, especially during this crucial time for the future developments in Ukraine,” she said.
The Czech Republic is also continuing to train Ukrainian soldiers. The country has trained around 8,000 military personnel, focusing particularly on preparing mechanized units and military specialists.
The 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is taking place on Thursday, December 9, at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, following a long hiatus. The last, 24th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group was held on September 6 at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Leaders of capability coalition groups within the Ramstein format approved 8 “roadmaps” that outline key objectives for the Ukrainian Defense Forces through 2027. The coalition roadmaps define Ukraine's strategic goals until 2027 and serve as the foundation for medium- and long-term support. We are also working to ensure that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are fully compatible with NATO forces, stated Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
The first meeting at the Ramstein Air Base took place on April 26, 2022.
