Europe must back Trump's ultimatum to Putin, says former minister Landsbergis.

Europe should back Trump's sanctions ultimatum to Putin, stated Lithuania's Foreign Minister (2020-2024) Gabrielius Landsbergis on platform X.

Europe must support Trump's sanctions ultimatum to Putin – this opinion was expressed by Lithuania's Foreign Minister (2020-2024) Gabrielius Landsbergis on platform X.

According to the former minister, Trump has put Putin in a difficult situation by "issuing an ultimatum."

"I am confident that Putin did not expect things to unfold this way… Now Putin must choose – to acknowledge that he fears new sanctions because his economy is in ruins, or to prove that his imperialist ambitions will not be constrained by these demands," Landsbergis wrote on X.

In the Lithuanian politician's view, the ultimatum is a "step in the right direction," but in addition to sanctions, military support and security guarantees are also needed, and Europe should stand in solidarity with the U.S. on this matter.

"By the way, if the EU wants to appear authoritative, it could at least announce its support for Trump's sanctions. And I believe that even Orbán will be forced to agree now," Landsbergis wrote.
