The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been instructed to suspend funding for projects being implemented in Ukraine, according to Reuters, citing a source within the agency.
"A USAID representative, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that staff responsible for projects in Ukraine have been ordered to halt all work. Among the frozen projects are support for schools and assistance in the healthcare sector, particularly emergency aid for mothers and vaccination for children," the Reuters report mentions.
As reported, the U.S. State Department has announced an immediate, wide-ranging pause in the provision of foreign aid. It is expected that within 85 days from the issuance of the guidelines, the State Department will prepare a report to accompany recommendations from Secretary of State Marco Rubio to President Donald Trump regarding which foreign aid programs to continue and which to discontinue.
