Greece will send 24 Sea Sparrow missiles to Ukraine, according to reports.

Greece has agreed to supply Ukraine with 24 American Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles, which have been in service with the Greek Navy and Air Force for nearly 40 years and are considered by Greek military standards to be unnecessary for operational use, according to the Greek publication "Kathimerini."

Greece has agreed to provide Ukraine with 24 American Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles, which have been in service with the Greek Navy and Air Force for nearly 40 years and are deemed unnecessary for operational use according to Greek military standards, reports the Greek publication "Kathimerini".

The report notes that Ukraine already possesses the launch systems required for deploying these missiles.

"This transfer is part of a broader military assistance package from Greece to Ukraine, which includes artillery shells, weapons, and ammunition. While this assistance aligns with Greece's defense commitments to Ukraine, it does not diminish Greece's defensive capabilities in the Aegean Sea," the publication states.

Sea Sparrow missiles are ground-based with radar guidance, designed to intercept aircraft or cruise missiles. Previously, there were reports of their transfer to Ukraine from Belgium, the United States, and Germany.
