Israel and Hamas discussed the details of a deal to cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip and the return of hostages on Sunday, according to media reports.
A Hamas spokesperson stated that the group has approved a list of 34 Israeli hostages to be returned as part of a deal that could ultimately lead to a ceasefire. However, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement claiming that Hamas had not provided a list of hostages.
"At this moment, Hamas has not submitted a list of hostages," the statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reads.
A source from the Jerusalem Post confirmed that Israel has not received any lists of hostages from Hamas, and it remains unclear who among the hostages is alive.
Meanwhile, according to Channel 12, Hamas did present a list of hostages but did not specify who is still alive.
"Negotiations for the release of hostages in Gaza and a ceasefire agreement are ongoing," a knowledgeable source told the Jerusalem Post.
According to sources from the publication, the process is proceeding slowly.
Later on Sunday, a Hamas representative provided Reuters with a copy of the list containing the names of the 34 hostages that Hamas agreed to release as part of a potential ceasefire agreement with Israel.
