The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, sharply criticized Elon Musk's support for right-wing parties in the European Union on Tuesday, calling it "truly disgusting," reports the Reuters agency.
"What is new is that he is intervening on behalf of right-wing politicians across Europe. And this is truly disgusting, and it is not good for democratic development throughout the European Union," Reuters quotes Scholz's response in English to a journalist's question after an election campaign event in Berlin.
Among other things, Scholz reminded that this week the world commemorated the victims of the Holocaust during the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
"Germany is grateful to the USA for liberating it from the Nazis and helping it to become a democracy again," Scholz said, adding that "this is why I am so furious that Elon Musk is defending the far-right."
