The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, proposes a ceasefire in Ukraine lasting for one month, as he stated in an exclusive interview with Le Figaro following the conclusion of the summit in London on Sunday.
"A ceasefire in the air, at sea, and in energy infrastructure that will last for a month. We know how to measure it. You must understand that today’s front line is equivalent to the Paris-Budapest line," the French president's words are reported by Le Figaro.
According to Macron, even if an agreement on foreign troops in Ukraine is reached, it will not happen immediately after the ceasefire begins.
"He expressed confidence in the 'de-escalation' between Trump and Zelensky, having spoken with the American president three times in three days, with their last conversation occurring after this summit. 'In the coming days, we will be able to move everything off dead center again,' he said," writes Le Figaro.
"The question is how we use this time to try to achieve an acceptable ceasefire. Negotiations that will last several weeks - and then, after signing a peace treaty, the deployment of troops," added Emmanuel Macron.
