The thousand forty-fourth day of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun. Over the past day, 140 combat engagements were recorded, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the morning summary on Thursday, January 2.
"In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders halted 38 assault and offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of Vozdvizhanka, Myrolubivka, Lysovka, Novohrud, Soleno, Kotlyne, Peschanoye, Pokrovsk, Novoelyzavetivka, Promen, Zeleny, Novoolevka, Shevchenko, Dachensky, and Novovasilivka," the report states.
At the same time, in the Kurakhove direction, Defense Forces repelled 26 attacks on our troops' positions near Ukrainka, Petropavlivka, and Kurakhove.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were seven attacks by the occupiers over the past day. Defense Forces repelled the enemy's assault actions near Kolesnykivka, Zahryzovo, Lozova, and Nova Kruhlyakivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched 16 attacks, attempting to advance near Novosergiivka, Tverdokhlebovo, Kopanky, Makeivka, Ivanivka, Zelenyi Hai, Torske, Ternovy, and in the Serebryansky forest.
In the Siversky direction, the enemy attacked our defenders' positions in the area of the settlement of Serebryanka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, 14 combat engagements were recorded in the areas of the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Predtechino.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with air support, conducted seven attacks near Toretsk, Diliivka, and towards Shcherbinivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy carried out 19 offensive actions on the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of Dachne, Konstanyntynivka, Yantarny, Novosilka, Razliv, and Novo Komar.
The summary also notes that despite the active use of bomber aviation by the enemy in the Orekhiv direction, our forces successfully repelled one enemy attack near the settlement of Novoandriivka.
In the Dnipro direction, Russian invaders unsuccessfully attempted to storm our units' positions twice in the area of Zabych Island.
The General Staff also informed about the progress of the military operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation: "In the operational zone in the Kursk region, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 5 attacks by Russian invaders over the past day. Additionally, the enemy launched one missile and 24 airstrikes, using seven missiles and 32 guided bombs, as well as conducted 356 artillery shellings of our troops' positions and settlements."
In the Kharkiv and Hulyaipole directions, the enemy did not conduct any assault actions over the past day.
