Pope Francis has called for a Christmas ceasefire in Ukraine and the Middle Eastern countries, as reported on the Vatican's website.

"The suffering Ukraine continues to be attacked in cities, often causing damage to schools, hospitals, and churches. Let the weapons be silenced, and let the carols be heard! Let us pray for a ceasefire on all fronts of the war, in Ukraine, in the Holy Land, throughout the Middle East, and around the world this Christmas," said the pontiff after reciting the "Angelus" prayer on Sunday.

He also mentioned that he is following the news from Mozambique and reiterated his message of hope, peace, and reconciliation to the people of that country. "I pray that dialogue and the pursuit of the common good, strengthened by faith and goodwill, prevail over distrust and disagreements," said Francis.
