In 2024, 200 Ukrainian aviators underwent basic flight, ground, and language training in the United Kingdom prior to their instruction on the F-16, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, citing the British Embassy in Ukraine.
"Royal Air Force instructors taught pilots general aircraft control, instrument flying, low-altitude navigation, and flying in complex formations," the General Staff stated in a Telegram message on Wednesday.
The training of Ukrainian pilots is part of the Interstorm operation.
As reported, within the framework of the "F-16 coalition," the Netherlands has delivered 18 fighter jets to Ukraine, and Denmark has also provided the first two batches of the expected 19 aircraft.
Since November 2024, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky have reported effective use of the F-16 in Ukraine as a cruise missile interceptor.
