The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine thwarted an attempt by a Polish citizen to illegally transport lemurs and exotic birds across the border, reported the agency's press service.
"Border guards uncovered an attempt to illegally transport exotic lemurs and birds. After a thorough inspection of the minibus, it was found that the driver, a Polish citizen, did not possess the necessary documents for transportation," the State Border Guard Service stated on Telegram on Sunday.
It was reported that the Polish citizen attempted to "resolve" the situation by offering a bribe to the border guard — $1,900 and 100 euros. However, the serviceman refused, warning about potential criminal liability.
The National Police has been notified of the incident.
