Twenty-eight individuals lost their lives and at least 23 were injured in a plane crash at Muan Airport in South Korea after a passenger aircraft veered off the runway and collided with a fence, as reported by the Yonhap news agency citing police and fire officials.
The incident occurred at 9:07 AM local time in South Korea on Sunday (2:07 AM Kyiv time) when the Jeju Air flight was approaching to land at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province.
There were approximately 175 passengers and six crew members on board, with the flight returning from Bangkok, Thailand. Most of the passengers were South Korean, except for two citizens from Thailand.
The authorities extinguished the initial fire and reported that search and rescue operations are underway at the crash site. They also initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
