The deadline for voluntary return to service after a military discharge can be extended, according to the Public Chamber.

The deadline for voluntarily returning to service after unauthorized absence (UA) may be extended, as this issue is currently being discussed with the parliamentary defense committee, stated Iryna Vereshchuk, the deputy head of the Office of the President.

The deadline for voluntary return to service after unauthorized absence (UA) may be extended, a matter currently under discussion with the defense committee of parliament, reported Deputy Head of the Office Iryna Vereshchuk.

"The deadline for voluntary return to service from UA expires on January 1, 2025. The idea is to extend this deadline (the exact duration is still up for discussion)," she wrote.

This proposal, according to her, was discussed at an interagency meeting on veteran policy and social protection for military personnel.

She noted that discussions on this matter are already underway with the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

Among other measures to address the issues surrounding UA, there is a suggestion to more actively engage recruiters from combat units.

"If someone successfully manages to bring a soldier back into the fold, then we should allow people to work and provide all possible support. (By the way, we must avoid situations where a unit has arranged to take a person back after UA, but they are sent to another unit)," Vereshchuk emphasized.
