The United States has suspended operations and planning for offensive cyber operations against Russia, reports CNN, citing an unnamed senior American official.
"The suspension is a 'serious blow,' the official said, particularly considering that planning such operations requires time and research," CNN reported.
The concern, according to the official, is that the pause in offensive cyber operations against Russia will make the U.S. more vulnerable to potential cyberattacks from Moscow, which has a vast pool of hackers capable of disrupting critical U.S. infrastructure and gathering sensitive intelligence data.
"For operational security reasons, we do not comment on or discuss cyber intelligence, plans, and operations. For Secretary Hegseth, there is no greater priority than the safety of the fighter in all operations, including cyberspace," said a senior defense official in an interview with CNN, referring to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
