The court has approved an agreement between the former head of the Brovary District State Administration, Volodymyr Maibozhenko, and the victims of the traffic accident he caused in April 2024, reports the Office of the General Prosecutor.
"By the ruling of the Brovary City District Court today, January 27, 2025, a decision was made to endorse the reconciliation agreement with the victims, under which the former official will face a penalty of a fine amounting to 34,000 UAH and a three-year ban on driving," the message states on the Telegram channel.
It is noted that the prosecutor opposed the possibility of the defendant reaching a reconciliation agreement with the victims, arguing that the provisions of the agreement do not align with societal interests and the requirements of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
"The court denied the prosecutor's request to examine materials during the trial that demonstrate the absence of mitigating circumstances in the form of active assistance in solving the criminal offense by the defendant. An appeal is currently being prepared for the aforementioned ruling," emphasized the Office of the General Prosecutor.
As previously reported, Maibozhenko caused a traffic accident in Brovary while intoxicated on April 26, 2024, hitting pedestrians crossing at a crosswalk. Among the victims of the accident were a 32-year-old mother with her 2.5-year-old daughter, as well as two men aged 29 and 26.
