The President of the United States, Donald Trump, remains focused on implementing tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico starting in February, the White House reported on Tuesday.
"The President stated that he is still committed to the plans for imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico," said the American leader's press secretary, Caroline Leavitt.
When asked by a reporter whether he also plans to impose a 10% tariff on imports from China, Leavitt mentioned that he is "still firmly inclined to consider" this matter.
Earlier in January, Trump indicated his intention to raise import tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico and to introduce additional tariffs on Chinese imports.
"We are thinking about 25% (tariffs – IF-U) for Mexico and Canada because they are allowing a huge number of people" across the border, Trump told reporters. He added: "A 10% tariff for China, based on the fact that they are sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada."
