Trump promised Canadians tax breaks if Canada joins the United States.

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Canadian taxes would be significantly reduced if Canada were to join the United States and become the 51st state.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that Canadian taxes would significantly decrease if Canada joined the United States and became the 51st state.

"I would really like Canada to become the 51st state. Canadians, if this happened, would see a tremendous tax cut, a colossal reduction in taxes. Their taxes are very high right now," Trump said, as reported by Fox News.

According to Trump, Canadians would no longer have to "worry about the military" and many other issues, particularly healthcare, if the country joined the U.S.

Trump has previously expressed the idea of Canada becoming part of the United States multiple times.

For instance, in early January, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to step down, Trump once again suggested that Canada should become the 51st American state.

"If Canada united with the U.S., there would be no tariffs, taxes would be reduced, and Canada wouldn't have to worry about Russian and Chinese ships that constantly move nearby. Together we could be a great nation!" Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social.

He also mentioned that Trudeau decided to resign because he understood that "the U.S. can no longer suffer from the enormous trade deficit and the subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat."

Trump further noted that many people in Canada would gladly support the decision to become the 51st American state.
