The "Ukrposhta" branch in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, will soon cease its operations. However, the city still has over 7,000 residents, and several stores remain open, reported Vadim Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration.
"In Pokrovsk, several stores and pharmacies are operating. Another branch of 'Ukrposhta' will be open until January 15. We thank them for their service. Unfortunately, the enemy is approaching the city, and there are about three kilometers left until they reach it," he stated during a telethon.
At the same time, he noted that the city lacks electricity and gas supply, and restoring it is impossible.
"There is no electricity or gas supply in Pokrovsk. Just six months ago, we drilled a significant number of wells, but they are not functioning now. We installed generators to support the people as much as we can. Several Invincibility Points and heating stations are operating to help people warm up and charge their phones. Unfortunately, we currently lack the means to restore electricity," the head of the OVA emphasized.
He clarified that all children have been evacuated from Pokrovsk, yet 7,200 residents remain in the city. According to him, nearly 40,000 people are still along the front line in the Donetsk region. Authorities, police units, and emergency services remain on-site to provide necessary assistance to the population.
