Last Monday, North Korea successfully tested its latest hypersonic ballistic missile, as reported by the state news agency of North Korea - the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA).
"The North Korean Missile Development Agency successfully conducted a test launch of the newest hypersonic ballistic missile with medium and long-range capabilities," the statement said.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who observed the missile test via video link, stated that the new missile "is capable of delivering a powerful military strike against adversaries, effectively overcoming any dense missile defense system."
It was reported that the day before, North Korea launched a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan. The "Renhap" agency noted that the missile launch coincided with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Seoul for talks with his South Korean counterpart on deterring threats from the North.
