In one of the border communities of Sumy region, two bodies were discovered, likely victims of shelling, reports the press service of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, on January 26, 2025, in the village of Ponomarenko of the Velikopisarivka community in the Akhtyrskyi district, law enforcement officials found the bodies of a 62-year-old man and his 86-year-old mother, who were preparing for evacuation on December 9, 2024. Since that time, they had not been in contact. Preliminary data suggests that the individuals died as a result of enemy shelling.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office regarding the commission of war crimes that led to loss of life (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting yet another hostile crime.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
