Law enforcement in Sumy have identified the military serviceman from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRC) who assaulted a local resident, resulting in the latter's death in the hospital, reports the press service of the National Police of Sumy region.

"During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officials determined that a sudden conflict arose between the local resident and the serviceman. In the heat of the argument, the serviceman lost control and inflicted bodily harm on the man. The victim was hospitalized but succumbed to his injuries in the hospital," the statement reads.

Currently, law enforcement has informed the perpetrator of suspicion under part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing.

It is noted that the 40-year-old victim's partner filed a report with the police regarding the assault. According to her, the man was taken to the hospital with injuries. A forensic operational group from the police was working at the scene.

In turn, The Sumy Regional TCRC and SP reported that a conflict occurred on its territory between two men, who are not employees of the TCRC and SP, in the lead-up to the New Year, resulting in one inflicting bodily harm on the other.

The victim was transported to a medical facility by ambulance.

"The personnel of the Sumy Regional TCRC and SP are fully cooperating with the investigation and assisting the police in establishing all the circumstances of the incident. All video materials from surveillance cameras have been provided to law enforcement," the agency emphasized.

The TCRC urged media representatives and the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and speculative claims, to use official sources of information, and to disregard fake news disseminated by hostile Telegram channels aimed at discrediting military personnel.
