The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, during which they discussed the collaboration between the two nations regarding security in the Middle East, reports the UK government website.
"They talked about the importance of working together to ensure security in the Middle East. They also discussed trade and the economy, with the Prime Minister explaining how we (the UK – IF) are deregulating the economy to stimulate growth," the statement said.
It was noted that Trump began the (conversation – IF-U) by expressing condolences to the Prime Minister for the loss of his brother. Starmer, in turn, thanked Trump for his kind words and congratulated him on his inauguration.
"The Prime Minister acknowledged President Trump's role in securing a significant ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. The President welcomed the release of Emily Damari and conveyed his best wishes to her family," the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the leaders emphasized the importance of close and warm ties between the UK and the US, and the President shared his respect and affection for the royal family.
The parties agreed to meet soon and expressed hope for further discussions.
