Kyiv. January 7. Interfax-Ukraine - Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with the new President of Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter, and congratulated her on her inauguration, as reported on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the political and humanitarian support from Switzerland, particularly for the successful organization of the first World Summit and participation in thematic conferences following its outcomes.
"The President of Ukraine specifically highlighted Switzerland's annual contributions to the humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine and invited her to join the new Ukrainian initiative Food from Ukraine to support the Syrian people and prevent a food crisis in Syria. This program will allow our country to supply agricultural products to Syria. The first 500 tons of Ukrainian wheat flour have already been sent to Syria. Ukraine urges partners to join this initiative and help restore stability in Syria, which at the same time represents a collective effort to protect lives worldwide," the statement said.
Volodymyr Zelensky and Karin Keller-Sutter agreed to continue the dialogue during a scheduled in-person meeting in the near future.
