Investigators from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials (CIO), who arrived at the residence of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, have halted their attempts to arrest him following a court ruling, as reported by the Renhap agency.
The report states that the investigators announced they were discontinuing their efforts to detain the president.
They also mentioned the need to consider further actions and expressed regret regarding Yoon Suk-yeol's behavior, according to the agency.
Earlier, the investigators, who had arrived at Yoon Suk-yeol's residence to carry out the arrest, faced resistance from the military and the president's security service. They presented warrants for the president's arrest and a search of the residence, but the head of the security service did not allow them to enter the building.
According to Renhap, the investigative team has until Monday to execute the arrest warrant.
Earlier this week, a court issued an arrest warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol. He is accused of declaring a state of emergency on December 3, attempting to organize a coup, and abusing power.
