DAY 1061 RUSSIAN AGGRESSION
January 19 is celebrated as World Religion Day, World Snow Day, Good Memory Day, Popcorn Day, and World Quark Day.
The Orthodox Church honors the memory of Saint Macarius of Egypt.
World Religion Day
Every year on the third Sunday of January, World Religion Day is observed globally, initiated by the UN. This celebration dates back to 1950 when the national governing body of the Baha'i Faith in the USA established it to proclaim the unity of all world religions and demonstrate that religion is primarily a force for world unity rather than discord.
World Snow Day
In 2012, another tradition emerged globally — World Snow Day is celebrated on one of the Sundays in January, initiated by the International Ski Federation. Its alternative name is International Winter Sports Day.
The aim of the Day is to increase interest in winter sports and encourage youth to lead an active lifestyle. According to FIS, on this day "snow festivals" should take place, allowing children and adults to participate in competitions on skates, skis, or snowboards.
Good Memory Day
This Day is dedicated to cherishing the good moments from our past and present while creating new ones for the future. It encourages us to focus on positive memories and explore ways to enhance our memory.
Popcorn Day
January 19 is celebrated as Popcorn Day. The birthplace of popcorn is America. It is well-documented that the indigenous people who greeted Christopher Columbus in 1492 consumed popcorn and made ornaments from it.
World Quark Day
World Quark Day is celebrated on January 19, honoring homemade sour cottage cheese — a versatile and nutritious dairy product. This Day encourages people to discover homemade quark and incorporate it into their diets, highlighting its health benefits and culinary versatility.
Quark is a type of fresh dairy product that falls somewhere between cream cheese and yogurt. This is what is referred to as European cottage cheese. It originates from Europe and is produced by heating soured milk until it curdles, then straining it. Quark is known for its soft, creamy texture and is a staple in many European cuisines.
Quark is recognized for its numerous health benefits. It is rich in protein, calcium, vitamin A, and B vitamins, and contains low levels of fat and carbohydrates, making it appealing to health-conscious individuals.
