Church Holiday:
Information about Simeon and Anna comes from the episode on the day of the Presentation of the Lord. Joseph and Mary brought the infant Jesus to the temple on the fortieth day after His birth to dedicate Him to God, and the elder Simeon took Him in his arms. Anna was a witness to this event. Little is known about Simeon and Anna themselves. According to tradition, Simeon lived to be 360 years old. During the reign of the Egyptian king Ptolemy II, he was among those who translated the Holy Scriptures from Hebrew into Greek. In the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, Simeon read: "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son." Thinking there was an error, he wanted to correct it, intending to write "wife" instead of "virgin," but an angel restrained his hand, promising him that Simeon would live to see this prophecy fulfilled.
Additionally, in the Gospel of Luke, it is stated that Anna, the prophetess, was a devout widow, and at the time of her encounter with Jesus, she was 84 years old. After the Presentation, she spread the news that the Messiah had come to earth.
