U.S. President Joseph Biden expects that American lawmakers will oppose the new administration led by Donald Trump in scaling back aid to Ukraine.
He told reporters that in his view, there is a "significant number of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress who support continuing assistance to Ukraine."
"I anticipate that they will openly disagree with Trump if the president decides to change his position," Biden stated.
Earlier, the White House announced that Biden, in a phone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, "emphasized the importance of continuing support for Ukraine" and informed the Ukrainian president about the U.S. efforts in this direction to "strengthen Kyiv's position regarding Russia."
