The Latvian Foreign Minister, Baiba Braže, condemned the Russian massive bombardment on Christmas, stating that the only way to achieve a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine is to continue supporting the Ukrainians.
“The butcher in the Kremlin is not interested in peace; Russia's policy is war. The only way to attain a just and enduring peace in Ukraine is to continue supporting Ukraine on the battlefield, in the energy sector, financially and politically, while also restraining Russia,” - wrote her on social media platform X.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that preliminary data indicates that during the latest massive attack, Russia used over 70 missiles of various types, targeting the energy sector. Air defense managed to intercept more than 50 missiles, but there were still hits.
Zelensky emphasized that Putin deliberately chose Christmas for the attack.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha referred to the latest strike by Russia on the Ukrainian energy system as a response from Putin to those who spoke of an illusory "Christmas truce."
