Ukrainian law enforcement has initiated an investigation following the execution of four more Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian occupiers in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
"In the Pokrovsky district, the enemy executed four more Ukrainian prisoners of war - an investigation has been launched," the statement reads.
According to operational data, on November 22 of this year, representatives of the Russian Armed Forces launched an assault on the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located near the village of Petrovske in the Pokrovsky district. During the enemy's assault, four servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to surrender. Immediately after this, the occupiers opened fire on them with automatic weapons.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reiterated that the deliberate killing of prisoners of war is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the individuals involved in its commission. Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the violation of laws and customs related to intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As reported, on November 26, Ukrainian law enforcement began an investigation into the execution of five captured Ukrainian servicemen by the occupiers in the Pokrovsk direction of the front in the Donetsk region.
