An intelligence cell of the Russian special services has been dismantled, which included employees of Ukrzaliznytsia and the capital's metro, reports the Office of the Prosecutor General on Saturday.
Two citizens have been notified of suspicion of treason and justification, recognition of the legality, and denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, two citizens of Ukraine - employees of Ukrzaliznytsia and the metro - were recruited in 2014 by a representative of the FSB in the Kaliningrad region. Until 2022, the suspects covertly provided him with information about the movement of train rolling stock carrying cargo of interest to the Russian Federation.
After the full-scale invasion, they supplied their curator with information about the movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, details about the consequences of strikes on urban infrastructure, and prepared to carry out sabotage actions under the direction of the FSB.
As a result of a series of searches, law enforcement officers seized from the suspects an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, explosives, communication devices, and computer equipment used for communication with their curator.
On the same day, they were detained under Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During the documentation of the crime, facts were also established regarding the justification by the suspects and their close associates of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the glorification of its participants. The brother of one of the suspects has been detained and notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, while the mother has received a notification of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspects is being resolved.
