Syrysky on "Oreshnik": this motivates us to develop our own air defense system that would also include missile defense capabilities.

Сырский о "Орешнике": это вдохновляет нас на разработку нашей системы ПВО, которая также сможет эффективно противостоять ракетным угрозам.

Ukraine currently lacks systems to intercept the Russian "Oreshnik" missile, but necessary measures are being taken to develop countermeasures, stated the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"This (the Russian 'Oreshnik - IF-U') is a threat, and at present, only a few air defense systems can intercept it," he said in an interview with "TSN.Tyzhden".

When asked whether Ukraine has systems capable of shooting down the "Oreshnik" missile, Syrskyi replied, "Unfortunately, we do not have them yet, but we must do everything to ensure they are developed."

Discussing the actions being taken to find solutions against the mentioned missile, Syrskyi pointed out that "this motivates us to create our own air defense system, which would not only be air defense but also a missile defense system."

"This urges us to actively negotiate with our allies to obtain such a system. And, of course, this should motivate us to develop a modern missile system that could serve as a deterrent against the use of such weapons by the Russians," emphasized the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In response to a clarifying question about whether these Ukrainian missile defense and missile systems are merely theoretical or practical, Syrskyi answered: "Work is underway, and it is being conducted actively in this direction. I hope that we will achieve the desired result in the near future."
