The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (GVA), Timur Tkachenko, inspected the condition of shelters in the city.

"I checked the state of the shelters and the progress in creating new protective structures in various areas of Kyiv. The threat of attacks has not disappeared, and the capital remains in the crosshairs. Therefore, the arrangement of shelters is not a matter of desire or convenience, but a basic necessity that cannot be ignored. The safety of residents must be a priority," - he wrote on Telegram.

According to him, work on the arrangement of shelters continues in schools, kindergartens, and residential buildings. New shelters will allow students to learn even during alarms, while renovated basements are becoming more suitable for people. However, this is still not enough.

The head of the GVA noted that over the three years of full-scale invasion, numerous issues have arisen, particularly closed shelters, lack of conditions for extended stays, and inaccessibility for people with limited mobility. "These are not just shortcomings – they are real risks to life," he emphasized.

"Systematic work is required here, and it must be coordinated at all levels. If there is a failure somewhere, it could cost someone their health or life. People need to know where their nearest shelter is and have a real opportunity to use it, without any 'buts'," Tkachenko stressed, adding that everyone must work clearly and without disruptions so that the safety of each person becomes the norm, not a privilege.
