The application process for the "Kyiv" award continues in Kyiv, with the monetary prize for winners doubled in 2025 to 50,000 UAH, reports the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
"We aim to encourage artists to keep creating and reach new levels of recognition. Recognizing artists through the "Kyiv" award is more than just a way to say 'thank you.' The capital sets an ambitious goal – to support artists, help them grow, unveil new names, and share their achievements beyond Kyiv. This is yet another element of diplomacy that fosters direct contact with the international community and reminds us daily, without translators, of the unique and diverse Ukraine," – quotes the words of KCSA Deputy Chair Anna Starostenko.
According to her, this year the total amount allocated for the prize is 450,000 UAH.
She noted that the "Kyiv" art award has been presented annually since 2001 during the City Day celebrations. This year, the monetary prize for laureates has increased to 50,000 UAH, and the organizers expect to see even more new names among the participants.
"Kyiv has many talented directors, writers, artists, as well as those creating high-level performances. They need support, and the authorities are fully committed to the development of capital art. From recognized classics to young artists experimenting with forms and meanings – each of them is part of a larger, cohesive picture of Ukrainian self-identification today. Our goal is to demonstrate that their work is a driving force for the future not only of the capital but of all Ukraine," – emphasizes Starostenko.
It is noted that works will be considered in nine categories, including literature, cinema, musical composition, theatrical art, visual arts, journalism, folk decorative art, choreographic art, and circus arts.
The KCSA explained that original new works created within the last three years, but no later than six months before their presentation for the award, may be submitted for the prize. Both individual artists and creative groups (up to three people) living and working in Kyiv can apply for the award.
"Creative unions, cultural institutions, theaters, publishing houses, scientific institutions, and editorial offices of newspapers and magazines have the right to nominate candidates. Up to three candidates can be submitted from one organization," – the message states.
Along with the nomination letter, a protocol of the meeting where the decision to nominate candidates was made, a creative description, copies of passports, documents with the taxpayer registration number, and the candidate's consent for processing personal data in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection" must be attached, added the KCSA.
