Fewer than 30,000 troops under European leadership will be deployed in key cities, ports, and critically important infrastructure across Ukraine, but will not be present in the eastern part of the country.
These measures are part of a plan to establish a "guarantee" mission to support Ukraine, as revealed by Western officials, reported The Times editor Larisa Brown.
"Western officials have unveiled their plan for 'calming' forces for Ukraine," she wrote on social media platform X on Wednesday.
According to her, the plan includes the following: "Deployment of fewer than 30,000 military personnel led by European countries in key cities, ports, and critically important national infrastructure throughout Ukraine. They will not be present in the east."
The plan includes technical monitoring of the border, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft, gathering intelligence, satellites in space, and drones to provide a "full picture of what is happening." Additionally, it involves airspace protection, the restoration of commercial flights, and the ability to "track and intercept these attacks." Support will come from American aircraft stationed in Romania and Poland, ready to respond if necessary. Plus, there will be larger ground forces on the eastern border prepared for redeployment.
Airspace protection, the restoration of commercial flights, and the capability to track and neutralize aerial attacks are planned.
