The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that strengthening Ukraine's air defense is a necessary condition for achieving peace in the country.
"Air defense and a sufficient number of anti-missiles are essential for bringing peace closer. I am grateful to all our partners who are assisting us with this and who have a complete understanding of what we need," Zelensky said in a video address posted on Telegram on Sunday evening, commenting on the completion of rescue operations in Poltava following a Russian missile strike.
"And this is just one Russian missile that has caused so much pain, suffering, and loss. This is why Ukraine and the real world need guarantees—guarantees that such evil will be stopped. Reliably. Not just with words or a few papers, but with something that can ensure the absence of Russian terror," Zelensky emphasized.
As reported, as a result of the enemy strike in Poltava, the entrance of a multi-story residential building was destroyed from the 1st to the 5th floor, leading to a fire. Fourteen people lost their lives, including two children aged 9 and 12. Twenty individuals were injured, of which four were children. Twenty-two people were rescued. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service and the National Police provided assistance to 206 individuals, including 11 children. Nearby houses and 12 vehicles were damaged.
